Using this guide
does not mean that you will never again be asked, What kind of
birth control are you using? But we hope it will mean youll
find these providers to be non-homophobic, non-judgmental, supportive,
and respectful of your sexual orientation. If you know additional LGBT-friendly
services, please refer them to us! There is no cost to be listed, and
we welcome everyone who identifies as LGBT-friendly.
A few disclaimers:
- For simplicitys
sake, we use the term lesbian to encompass all women (and
transgender people) who partner with women. This includes lesbians,
bisexual women, and transgender persons in our community. Our intent
is to simplify, not to exclude. Several bisexual and transgender people,
as well as many gay men and straight allies, have been instrumental
in ensuring the guides success.
- Health information
contained in this guide is not a substitute for medical advice. Readers
are urged to consult a health care provider about health questions or
problems.
- Inclusion in the
guide is not an endorsement of particular health providers or organizations
by CDP or the Health Education Council.
- Although every
provider or organization listed has self-identified as lesbian-sensitive,
if you do have a negative or homophobic encounter with a provider or
organization listed here, please let us know so we can remove them from
the guide.
- Every effort has
been made to ensure the guide is as accurate as possible; however, please
let us know if there is a listing that needs to be corrected or added.
Again, we hope this
resource guide will encourage you to take a more active role in your
own health and to seek a provider who meets your needs. Please e-mail
us at info@saclesbianhealth.com to let us know how we're doing.
To our health!
